Plan & Proposal, What?
Your research planning proposal is an important part of any project. The artists planning proposal summarises their topic in question which they wish to answer through their research. It will demonstrate the knowledge the artist has on the chosen topic while showing what methods she will use to complete the research, major project and dissertation.
When completing the planning proposal the artist will include a clear working title, which indicates the topic and related question. A short research overview that provides key information about the artist research and why they chose their particular topic should be included. The artist will highlight their research methods, such as what primary research methods and techniques will be used? Will the artist you focus groups or interviews? What secondary research will they use? Public libraries, social media, books or online texts? All these important details are required for the reader to understand the artists choice of methods.
Within the plan and proposal, the artist will highlight a weekly schedule (figure 2
) for what they plan to do and how they plan to do it. The artist will also include any design briefs, sketches office chat to demonstrate what they aim to achieve on completion of their research and major project.
The artist will explain their personal interest in the chosen topic in question. She will include details of her family and background which both link to the topic. Explaining how previous feedback from tutors’ advised the artist to step out of their comfort zone to demonstrate innovation (S. Barrington, 2021) in relation to her work and that even though the artist’s work was good it lacked uniqueness (S. Barrington, 2021). Detailing how taking this onboard the artist pursues this specific topic as it would achieve the feedback advice well also linking into the artists family history.
Finally, to conclude the artist will need to explain what they aim to achieve from the research. For this topic, the artist aims to expand their knowledge and understanding of how folklore and mythology influence character design and briefs in TV and film. From the research, the artist will be better equipped at understanding how accurate research influences how a character is created by both director and hair and make-up designer.
Will the artist be able to achieve the knowledge and understanding they seek? Keep reading to find out…..
