Fairy Queen Design

Figure 1, Fairy Queen Maeve. Figure 2, Fairy Queen Aoibheall

For the fairy queen, the artist has chosen to combine 2 fairy queens and create their own. This means they have chosen aspects from the 2 queens to create a new fairy queen which still follows the same principles as their creators.

The fairy queen will have long flowing red hair. This will be either natural hair or a wig, which will be used to create this look. The hair will be styled in curls and pinned to create a hair crown around the top of the head. Then flowers and a crown will be added to finish the hair look. Use of 2 wigs would be used to create both styles to cut down on production time and allow for both shoots to take place on the same day.

The outfit is currently undecided as the artist has 2 options. The first is a lovely blue gown which will depict the essence of a fairy queen while the other outfit will depict the warrior queen she is also seen as. There may be the option of creating a styled shoot to mimic a portrait style in the dress which could then be hung behind the warrior queen in the final images. This way the artist can put across both sides to their Queen.

For the first look, the model would wear a blue dress (figure 4) with a long flowing cloak (figure3), her makeup would be elegant with hints of pink in the cheeks and natural colours on the eyes. For this look, the hair would be styled in elegant curls which fall down the models back, some curls will be pinned on top of the head behind the crown to create a simple yet elegant updo. The model will also wear a crown (figure 5) that will put across her authority as Fairy Queen.

For the warrior queen look, the model would wear a green skirt (figure12) and white top (figure 11) with a cloak (figure 6). Over her shirt, there will be body armour (figure 7 & 9) as she is a warrior Queen. Her hair would be styled the same way as described in the blue dress design, however, the only change would be the crown (figure 7) would be replaced with a new gold crown to go with her warrior look. Props for this look will include a sword and belt (figures 10 & 13)

For the makeup with this look, the artist is going for a natural elegance. From research, Queens wore a natural look so she feels the Fairy Queen would do the same. However, there is the possibility that for look one the artist will consider a more blue-toned makeup look to tie in her link to the weather. then for look 2, she will keep it natural as a warrior Queen would want to keep things minimal to avoid distractions.

Both these looks could be created within the same day, and this will allow for better time management of the overall planning, process, and final result. It would also mean crew were only required for 1 day instead of 2.
