Model Choices

Within the project, the artist will need to work with a number of models. Those models will be specifically picked based on the looks the artist wants to achieve. This means the model choice is extremely important as it will determine whether the final images will be of a first standard or a second.

Figure 1, Model Dominic - Goblin

Goblin – Dominic

This model was chosen as it will be the first male model the artist has used during her studies. This means that she is now adding diversity into the portfolio which will help when applying for jobs. The model has black skin which will be an added advantage as this will be the first time the artist has completed makeup including bald cap and prosthetics on black skin. This means the artist is pushing themselves outside their comfort zone and expanding their skillset. These skills will also make them more employable as it demonstrates their skills when colour matching darker skin tones.

The models' facial bone structure is a great match for the goblin design as the pointed chin and large nose will look within proportion to the face itself. Also, the added body physique matches well with the sketch the artist created at the start.

Overall, this is a good model choice as not only is this design the most complex, but it is also going to bring its own challenges with the model chosen as the artist has a lot more to consider when colouring the prosthetics and bald cap.

Figure 2, Model Nicola - Banshee 1

Banshee - Nichola & Chelseay

Nicola was picked as the first model for the banshee look. This choice was made based on the fact she fit the artist's vision for the older banshee look. Nicola is a more mature lady and will add authenticity to the overall look when posing for the final images. After discussing the idea of the old hag banshee Nicola was more than happy to play the part and thus began the brainstorming for costumes, props and location.

Figure 3, Model Chelseay - Banshee 2

Chelseay was chosen as the second model as she is tall and young, following in the look for the second banshee. She perfectly complements the first model Nicola and the artist felt that once they were both in costume, hair and makeup they would both work perfectly together on the shoot.

Figure 4, Model Sira - Merrow

Merrow – Sira

Sira was chosen for the model of this design as she fits the look the artist was going for. She is a pale model and currently has orange hair but with a wig applied she will be a perfect blue-haired merrow. The model was also chosen as she can swim and is perfectly happy to get in some cold water for the purpose of the shoot. Sira’s’ body frame was also a great match for that of a merrow. She is of a slim build which allows for a perfect blend of the prosthetics around her waist and over her chest.

Figure 5, Model Fee Rose - Fairy Queen

Fairy Queen – Fae Rose

Fae rose was chosen as the final model for the artist's major project based on a few things. One Fae has pale skin which is required for the Fairy Queen look and second, she was chosen because she had shown a lot of interest in the design brief before the artist has officially completed the design for the look.

As a professional model, Fae has experience in front of a camera and will bring lots of character to the final images. Fae is also happy with the 2 design briefs for the look as well as wearing the wigs and full costume and body armour

required to achieve this final look.
